Dr. Lawrence Singerman has authored over 275 publications and holds two clinical professorships, one at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and another at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of the University of Miami.

CLEVELAND, OH, April 18, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Lawrence J. Singerman, Founder of Retina Associates of Cleveland, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of ophthalmology.

With 35 years of professional experience, Dr. Singerman specializes in retinal and vitreous diseases. With his associates, his practice sees patients at eight offices in Northeastern Ohio. Also active in the field of research, he has been the principal investigator in approximately 75 multicenter clinical trials of treatments for diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and other vitreoretinal diseases; many of these studies have led to FDA-approval of new drugs. His center has been a leading recruiter for such studies nationally and internationally. Dr. Singerman has authored over 275 publications and holds two clinical professorships, one at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and another at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of the University of Miami.

Dr. Singerman is a recipient of the J. Donald M. Gass Award in Macular Diseases (1999) and the Arnall Patz Award in Retinal Vascular Diseases (2009) from the Macula Society and of Lifetime Achievement Awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland. He earned his MD degree from Wayne State University and completed his retinal training at the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute of Johns Hopkins University. He is the founder of the Macula Society, an international society of the leading investigators and clinicians in the field of retinal diseases, and he has been elected to six consecutive five-year terms as the society's executive secretary. He is also a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists, the Retina Society, the Club Jules Gonin, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and numerous other professional organizations. He has served as president of the Ohio and Cleveland Ophthalmological Societies and the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland.
