METAIRIE, LA, April 1, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Clay Boyd, Assistant Professor of Clinical Urology for LSU Health Sciences Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of higher education.

Dr. Boyd specializes in urology, managed care access, healthcare implementation and economics, and instructing clinical urology. He graduated summa cum laude and had his own private practice for 16 years. He also completed four years of active military duty for the Air Force from 1987 to 1991. He is the co-author of the book titled 'Overcoming Urinary Incontinence: A Woman's Guide to Treatment.' Dr. Boyd feels that millions of women suffer with incontinence and embarrassment keeps most women from seeking help. It is estimated that 10 million American women experience some form of incontinence. The National Institute on Health reports that 50 percent of all women have occasional bouts with incontinence, and approximately 20 percent of women over the age of 75 experience leakage on a daily basis. However, as many as 90 percent of these women do not seek medical advice because they're embarrassed by the problem. 'For some women, medication may work in resolving incontinence problems, the solution doesn't always involve surgery or other invasive treatments,' states Dr. Boyd. He also published a book entitled 'Overcoming Urinary Incontinence' in April 2008. He contributes to Hurricane Katrina victims and attributes his success to his self-motivation and being a self starter.

In 1987, Dr. Boyd completed his residency in urology at the Charity Hospital of New Orleans. He received his MD from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1982. A board certified professional, he received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette). Dr. Boyd is a member of the American Urological Association and received the Physician's Recognition Award in 2002.
