"Toto, we're not at the Georgia World Congress Center any more!"
Following March 14 tornado damage to the Georgia World Congress Center, the Spring Book Show, scheduled for March 28-30, has moved to the downtown Hilton Atlanta & Towers Hotel.

/Books News Articles/ - ATLANTA, GA, March 25, 2008 - It wasn't the same tornado that blew Dorothy and Toto out of Kansas that blew the Spring Book Show to the downtown Hilton Atlanta Hotel, but it was a tornado nonetheless.

On the evening of March 14, a tornado swept through downtown Atlanta, Ga. Fortunately, the storm caused no fatalities, but it did severe damage to a number of structures, including the Georgia World Congress Center where the Spring Book Show was scheduled to be held..

As a result of the tornado damage, the Spring Book Show, originally scheduled for Hall B of the Georgia World Congress Center, has moved to the downtown Hilton Atlanta Hotel.

The hotel, at 255 Courtland St. N.E., just off the I-85.I-75 downtown connector, is about 10 blocks from the area that suffered the tornado damage, but was completely unaffected by it.

The Spring Book Show, featuring more than 50,000 book titles being sold by vendors to buyers from around the world, will be held in the lower level and one of the ballrooms at the Hilton.

Educational seminars being held in conjunction with the show will be held in the hotel's salon area. Spring Book Show registration will be held in the same salon area.

"We're thankful that no one died as a result of the tornado," said show organizer Larry May of Knoxville, Tenn. "We're also thankful that the Hilton, which was to be the official hotel for the show, has found accommodations for the show as well. Now everything is under one roof, and that's good for the hundreds of people from around the world coming to the show."

While vendor space for the show has been sold out since January, book buyers and those attending educational meetings may still register. "Y'all come, it's going to be great fun," said May.
